See it if you enjoy an old fashioned Broadway musical, with great performances in singing and dancing and staging. Also, there's a lot of comedy.

See it if you want a brilliant feel-good show full of amazing cast members and fun songs. There's no way to leave this show feeling anything but joy.

Don't see it if you're not a fan of quirky stylized love stories. If you yearn for more than a basic misunderstood lovers plot, this might not be for you.

CurtainUp

"For anyone who appreciates delicacy, charm and intimacy in their musicals rather than the big, high-kicking, and splashy kind, there's nothing to beat 'She Loves Me. ' And when it comes to musical revivals it doesn't get better than the Roundabout Theatre Company's new production. Scott Ellis has tapped into all 'She Loves Me's' charms with renewed vigor and flair...If you're looking for a good time, it's a sure bet that you'll love 'She Loves Me.'"

"This beautiful bonbon of a musical will now give a new generation fond memories...The melodious and fine-tuned score carries the show along sung by a cast of experts who move effortlessly through Warren Carlyle’s funny, well-integrated choreography...Scott Ellis’ direction avoids caricature, even in the most broadly drawn characters...This is a 'She Loves Me' that moves the audience equally to tears and laughter mostly through the power of the iconic Bock/Harnick score."

Theatre is Easy

"The pleasures of ‘She Loves Me’ are such that even the most jaded cynic may well leave walking on air…If director Scott Ellis doesn’t quite bring out the wordplay in Harnick’s clever lyrics, the cast more than makes up for this as the show progresses. Everyone gets a chance to shine…’She Loves Me’ loses its way a bit near the end of Act 1…Still, the otherwise exquisite 'She Loves Me' makes a compelling case for the value of a high-quality musical rom-com."

"Filled with humor and glamour...What emerges after the intermission is a charming, light comedy where Georg and Amalia finally fall in love. Director Scott Ellis has no difficulty getting to the heart of the matter...'She Loves Me' reminds you that falling in love practically makes you want to do cartwheels."

"There is a whole lotta love to be found at Studio 54 these days in the absolutely charming revival of 'She Loves Me'...Directed by Ellis is an impeccable supporting cast of pros. There isn’t a sour note in the lot...It’s a beautifully crafted and written show, a bit old-fashioned, but with some surprisingly modern twists and turns...The show reminds us what it is like to fall in love, but beyond that, it reminds me of the beginning of my love affair with theatre in general. "Even somebody who has never heard of this romantic musical comedy could easily fall in love with 'She Loves Me'...Benanti couldn’t be better as Amalia...Creel is one of several cast members with overemphatic flourishes, which makes me suspect it was a decision by director Scott Ellis to opt toward the cartoonish. This is a quibble. In a cast of almost two dozen performers with many delights, there is little in 'She Loves Me' that’s not to love."

"A stellar production that will leave you with a gleeful smile...While not necessarily plot heavy, there are enough sweet-scented wafts to keep things moving along and allow Bock and Harnick’s score to shine...'She Loves Me' is an escape to an imaginary jewel-toned time where boy meets girl and love blooms in just a few short seasons. It’s a sweet, reminiscent scent, and befits the Roundabout’s 50th anniversary season."

The Clyde Fitch Report
March 19th, 2016

"Charm is not a prominent commodity. If some need a handy definition, it’s kicking up its heels in Scott Ellis’s perfect revival...He sprinkles surprises throughout the new proceedings...This isn’t to mention the unerring performances he encourages...They sing a score in which no song isn’t thoroughly romantic, delightful, amusing and/or affecting...So the question arises: Is there anything at all wrong with this supernal 'She Loves Me'? No."
