About the Show

Part of FringeNYC: Rizpah watches her sons rot, Tamar disguises herself as a prostitute, Bathsheba is an innocent victim. Each week contemporary women met and questioned the experiences of forgotten women in the Bible. It was scary to speak. The result was eye-opening.

Ambitious, Great writing, Intense, Original, Relevant

See it if you are a woman, or know a woman. This is extremely important, brave theatre.

Don't see it if you aren't prepared for a truth marathon. It goes on a little long, but, honestly, even just seeing Act One would be worth it.

Absorbing, Refreshing, Thought-provoking, Relevant, Great staging

See it if You are a Christian who loves God but struggles with the church. If you're a woman who feels like you can't speak up about trigger issues.

Don't see it if If you're expecting Bible bashing

Ambitious, Absorbing, Entertaining, Confusing, A truly original vision with a strong set of statements delivered in an oddly understated fashion

See it if you are interested in how women think about being women or how women think about how the Judeo-Christian tradition has thought about women.

Don't see it if you are looking to just sit back, relax and enjoy the show; you do have to pay attention.

Intelligent, Relevant, Must see, Profound, Thought-provoking

See it if You haven't yet. One chance left! Who would not find this to be relevant? It is clever and powerful and still has laugh-out-loud moments.

Don't see it if You don't care about women's issues or social justice. This is challenging subject matter.

Absorbing, Masterful, Must see, Original, Relevant

See it if you want to better understand the voice of women in the Bible, a voice that generally was silenced.

Don't see it if you're looking for 1) the Bible stories you heard growing up; 2) aren't in it for the long haul (2:45); 3) want an AC theater (very warm)

Theatre is Easy
August 17th, 2016

“Some of the topics are hard to swallow and other topics are hilarious, but the entire show has a powerful message...At almost three hours, the show is on the long side...Certainly provides a new perspective to the unspoken heroines of the Bible...Shines a spotlight on the power and strength of women. The twelve diverse and dynamic actresses on stage bring life to tales that are often forgotten or shoved away."
