Doppelskope presents an interactive musical for young audiences that reinvents 'Three Billy Goats Gruff' as a puppet parable about climate change. More…
'Gruff!' takes place in a future when the world has become a toxic wasteland. A young goat named Gruf stumbles upon Troll Valley: the Earth's sole surviving oasis of natural plant and animal life. Gruf tries to convince her fellow goats to join her on a quest to make the world green again, but her elders are bent on drilling for fuel. Best for ages 4 and up, 'Gruff!' features puppetry, physical comedy, projections, and original songs.
"Everything that great children’s theater should be...Entertaining, engaging, and educational in its delightful delivery of an important message about the need to save our planet by protecting the environment...The show is at once smart and silly, with humor that will get even the adults laughing...The entire cast is irresistible...'Gruff!' is guaranteed to keep children (and adults) spellbound and to remind all ages to stop polluting our clean air and destroying our green Earth." for a previous production “Doppelskope combines various storytelling styles in this delightful performance…Cast members impress with their high energy…It's an hour of nonstop fun for the kids, but there are also extremely relevant sociopolitical messages in this show…The issues explored in 'Gruff!' are more urgent than ever, and its creative team does a commendable job in creating an educational, well-crafted, and exhilarating piece for all ages.” Full Review
See it if You enjoy smart children's theatre.
Don't see it if You dislike shows that encourage call and response from children (think Dora the Explorer). You get annoyed by mics that aren't loud enough
See it if you want a cute and fun show for toddlers. My 3yo claimed to love it, tho a lot went over his head. A fun silly show with a big message.
Don't see it if you're looking for big budget spectacle; this is a small theater and a relatively low-tech show. If you don't believe in climate change...
See it if you want to teach your child a bit about saving the earth.
Don't see it if you want a lot of laughs and you want a clear-cut message about the environment. Still an effort was made to show how we destroy our land.
See it if like eco themes that inspire kids, fluffy creatures, and silliness. Well directed and great actors. Didn't feel patronizing. Great energy.
Don't see it if Beginning has a story that scared my kid, but it is short and story reverses itself so that scary ones becomes the kids' favorite characters
