Interactive Christmas quest across magical lands from immersive creators Wild Rumpus.
A Merry Misrule is a new immersive family adventure unfolding across the rooms and corridors of Battersea Arts Centre. Drawing on mischievous Yuletide folklore from across Europe, the show follows a mission to restore festive order amid seasonal chaos. Children and adults alike are guided through enchanting spaces by a walkie-talkie-wielding “Resistance Rabbit,” encountering curious characters bent on disrupting the holiday spirit.
The production is created by Wild Rumpus, the award-winning immersive arts company known for blending myth, nature, and interactivity into their storytelling. Their previous collaboration with Battersea Arts Centre, The Holly King and The Oak King, received critical acclaim (★★★★★ The Stage, ★★★★ Broadway World). The creative team brings back their expertise in sensory-rich, site-specific family theatre, transforming the venue into a festive quest space designed for children aged 3+.
Staged without a traditional theatre setup, this 40-minute promenade performance is designed to be experienced throughout the building. The show is produced in association with Battersea Arts Centre and made possible with the support of Charles Holloway OBE. It continues the venue’s tradition of reimagining seasonal programming through immersive, inclusive storytelling.
