A politician’s daughter and a chauffeur enter a dangerous liaison on election night, 1945.

Set on the night of the Labour Party’s 1945 electoral victory, Julie, the daughter of a prominent MP, becomes entangled in a charged encounter with her father’s chauffeur, John. Their relationship shifts from flirtation to a destructive battle over power, desire, and survival.

Patrick Marber reimagines August Strindberg’s play in a mid-20th-century British setting. Known for Dealer’s Choice and Don Juan in Soho, Marber has also received acclaim for his screenplays including Closer and Notes on a Scandal.
