Set in Moscow in 1956, Boogie on the Bones tells the story of young stilyagi rebels who risk everything to embrace Western jazz culture under the shadow of the Soviet regime. At the center is Mels, a Komsomol officer torn between his duty to the state and his newfound love for the mysterious Polly, discovered during a police raid. Guided by the smuggler Doctor Bob and the charismatic Fred, Mels’s journey traces the price of self-expression in a society that demands conformity.
The musical is written by Daria Besedina and directed by Sofia Barysevich, who also serves as producer. The creative team includes Polina Ostrovskaya (line producer), Varvara Burtseva (assistant producer), Anastasiia Glazova (costume design), Eldar Shibanov (set design), thegeorgeNET (lighting design), and Sasha Gefen (sound design). Choreography is led by Anna Korzik and Wren Perkins, with tailoring by Tatiana Sheveleva and Olena Komova.
