True-crime drama by Sasha Wilson exploring the Lizzie Borden case through live folk music.
Set in the aftermath of the 1892 murders of Andrew and Abby Borden in Fall River, Massachusetts, Bury the Hatchet revisits one of history's most infamous unsolved murder cases. With Lizzie Borden at the centre of the investigation, a company of three actor-musicians re-examines the evidence through a blend of true crime, courtroom drama, and live bluegrass performance, questioning how myth and history become intertwined.
The play is written by Sasha Wilson, whose work won the Off West End Award for Best Ensemble and the VAULT Festival People's Choice Award. It is directed by Vicky Moran. The production is presented by Out Of The Forest Theatre and combines scripted drama with live folk music performed by the cast.
