Set in South Portugal in 2028, the play follows Catarina on the day she is expected to kill her first fascist — a ritual bound up in family tradition, ceremony, and inherited belief. When she refuses, her decision fractures the family and forces a reckoning with the principles and contradictions that have shaped them. Questions of political violence, democratic values, and the cost of conviction move to the center as the past resurfaces and old tensions sharpen.

Written and directed by Tiago Rodrigues, Director of the Festival d'Avignon and one of Portugal's most acclaimed theatre-makers, the production receives its UK premiere at the National Theatre for a limited one-week run. The play is performed in Portuguese with English surtitles.
