Amateur, Obnoxious, Excruciating, Banal, Dated

See it if you like amateur plays that are at primary school level and are ok with the high potential that you will want to leave early

Don't see it if you are looking for something inspired, entertaining, funny & at a quality befitting the Royal Festival Hall & appreciate cohost chemistry

Great singing, Funny, Entertaining, Enchanting

See it if You want the perfect Christmas variety show - not completely polished but warm & thought-provoking & Christmassy

Don't see it if You just want a Love Actually tribute or if you don’t want to be made to think.

The Times (UK)
December 9th, 2023

"In the great scheme of things, you tell yourself during this remarkably crummy variety night, it doesn’t really matter if we’ve all been rather had by this slipshod show. ... 'Christmas Actually' is a truly terrible night out."

The Guardian (UK)
December 10th, 2023

“For all the creakiness of this festive contrivance, I can’t get too Scrooge-like about Christmas Actually. It throws a lot at the wall, some of it falls apart on impact – but some of it captures the spirit of the season”

All That Dazzles (UK)
December 10th, 2023

“...’Christmas Actually’ has a lot to live up to, and unfortunately it didn’t meet my admittedly high expectations. I was hoping for a bit more comedy and some stars, but, filled with sentimentalism, it was an enjoyable night. I left feeling Christmassy and it was all in support of Comic Relief, a noble cause reminding us that Christmas is the season of goodwill to all.”

The Telegraph (UK)
December 9th, 2023

" 'Christmas Actually', which (Richard Curtis) he writes and curates, is a heavy dish of songs, sketches, poems and pre-recorded celebrity cameos, many of which accurately simulate the feeling of sitting on the sofa after Christmas lunch, watching the John Lewis advert with trapped wind.."
