In a remote farmhouse in Northern Ireland during the 1980s, two estranged sisters are unexpectedly reunited. Fiery Fianna and devout Alannah clash in a storm of secrets, suppressed rage, and decades-old trauma. As their confrontation escalates, what begins as a fraught family reunion spirals into chaos, soaked in black humour and a rising tide of blood. Crocodile Fever explores the corrosive legacy of violence and the volatile bonds of sisterhood with sharp wit and shocking twists.

The play is written by Irish playwright Meghan Tyler, recipient of the Channel 4 Playwrights’ Scheme, whose past works include This is Paradise (Traverse Theatre) and Medicine (The Hope Theatre). This production is directed by Arcola Theatre’s Artistic Director Mehmet Ergen, whose previous directing credits at the venue include The Painter, The Mother, and Clarion. Together, Tyler and Ergen steer this incendiary work through both its biting humour and brutal subject matter.

Presented by Arcola Theatre, Crocodile Fever is staged in Studio 1 with a strong creative emphasis on stylised violence, darkly comic pacing, and bold theatricality. Content warnings include strong language, depictions of domestic and sexual abuse, graphic violence, simulated intoxication, and the use of imitation firearms, contributing to a confrontational and vivid dramatic experience.
