A whaling crew faces mutiny, isolation, and eerie visions in the frozen Arctic.
Icebound in the Arctic after months without whales to hunt, the crew of the Dogstar face dwindling supplies, rising tensions, and the threat of mutiny. As strange visions begin to spread among the sailors, they question whether their experiences are caused by scurvy, the endless polar night, or something beyond explanation. Set at the edge of the world, the play explores survival, belief, and the pressures of isolation.
The play is written by Daisy Hall, whose previous Hampstead Downstairs production Bellringers was a sell-out success in 2024, and is directed by Lucy Morrison (Marys Seacole, Scenes with Girls).
Running from 30 October to 5 December 2026, Dogstar is a new dark comedy staged in Hampstead Theatre's intimate Downstairs space. The production is recommended for ages 14 and above.
