About the Show
A new show devised by ViSiBLE Theatre Ensemble about living with insomnia.
Insomnia is a common sleep disorder where individuals struggle to either fall asleep or stay asleep. Individuals who experience insomnia may feel tired when they wake up which has an impact on energy levels, mood and quality of life.
Developed following a series of workshops, 'Five Characters in Search of a Good Night’s Sleep' follows five insomniacs, their personal reflections on life and their struggles with getting a good night's rest.
It is refreshing to see five characters – and actors – of a certain age on stage. [However] this play ultimately comes to feel like five character studies in search of a more joined-up story.
Thematically, the piece is monotonous and underdeveloped. The cast are mostly engaging despite Mike Alfred’s sparse direction ... for a piece about sleep-deprived mania, it had a surprisingly lethargic effect.
