Northern Ballet presents a ballet exploring the life of Anne Lister, the Yorkshire landowner often called the first modern lesbian. The production portrays her defiance of 19th-century societal norms as she navigates love, business, and personal freedom, bringing her secret diaries to the stage through movement and storytelling.

Choreographed by Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, the ballet features new live music by Peter Salem. Ochoa is renowned for her work in contemporary ballet, and Northern Ballet is recognized for narrative-driven dance productions. The show is a co-production with Finnish National Opera and Ballet.
