Polly and Rowen's love is tested by a device offering eternal bliss.
Polly and Rowen's relationship faces a new challenge when Rowen brings home the Black Box, a device promising to cure depression and transform lives. As Polly becomes increasingly detached, drawn to the artificial bliss the device offers, their bond is tested. Will her love for Rowen be strong enough to overcome the seductive pull of the machine? Directed by Annie Kershaw, a recipient of the Genesis Future Directors Award 2024, Stef Smith’s play "Girl in the Machine" explores complex themes of love and technology at the Young Vic this autumn.
