A dark solo comedy on grief, sex, and soul music by writer-performer Natasha Cottriall.
Set in Wigan in the early 2000s, (God Save My) Northern Soul follows 19-year-old Nicole, a mixed-race teenager stumbling through the murky waters of adulthood after the sudden death of her mother. Working part-time at River Island and dodging the responsibilities life keeps hurtling her way, Nicole unexpectedly inherits a house, a BMW, and her family’s sandwich shop.
Written and performed by Natasha Cottriall, this one-woman dark comedy explores grief, identity, and coming-of-age in a working-class northern town. The production is presented by Toby Parsons Productions in association with Park Theatre.
Performed in Park Theatre’s intimate Park90 space, the play balances irreverent humour with poignant emotional beats, offering a character portrait that is both specific and deeply personal.
