A struggling actor spirals under pressure from ambition and her ailing mother.
This solo play follows Iris, a performer struggling to sustain a career while navigating financial instability and repeated rejection. Her daily life is shaped by unsuccessful auditions and compulsive comparison to others, including a former classmate whose success contrasts sharply with her own. Alongside these pressures, Iris is increasingly preoccupied with her mother, whose critical voice lingers even as her health declines and she becomes more dependent.
As these forces converge, Iris’s sense of control begins to fracture, with past and present influences overlapping in her thoughts and actions. Written and performed by Mollie Semple and directed by Kayla Stokes, the production integrates projections and voiceover to depict a layered psychological landscape shaped by expectation, care, and identity.
