Set after a catastrophic event known as “The Great Sucking,” the play imagines a world where nearly everyone has vanished except members of a Nebraska-based religious sect and a handful of accidental survivors. The sect’s bizarre belief—that God will pull the unprotected skyward to burn on the surface of the sun—proves horrifyingly accurate, reshaping society around survival, fanaticism, and bodily ritual.

Blending absurdist comedy with post-apocalyptic romance, HOLE! follows the emotional and ideological fallout among the remaining survivors. The play uses extreme satire and heightened theatricality to explore devotion, sexuality, shame, and the strange systems people construct to make sense of catastrophe.
