A stage adaptation of the true story of Battle of Brightlingsea - a fight for the humane treatment of animals.
In a small port town in Essex, the residents wake up to lorries packed with animals who have gone without food and water for 30+ hours. Horrified, a local group of women & children begin to organise protests to advocate for the humane treatment of these animals. 'Humane' tells the true story of this group of activists as they face arrest and police brutality for backing this cause.
At times, their purposeful expressions and gestures seem over-exaggerated, in part the product of staging such a dynamic piece within the confines of an intimate theatre space. [But] Humane has great promise as a production.
