Ilford Boy follows Ted Martin, a mixed-race teenager growing up in 1990s East London in a household defined by chaos, laughter, and tough love. When Patrick enters his life, Ted's world shifts—introducing him to art, show tunes, and a community of people who see him differently. The play traces the impact of that encounter and what it opens up for a young man navigating identity, belonging, and the possibility of another way to live.

Written by Danny Lee Wynter, the play is directed by Tim Sheader, Artistic Director of the Donmar Warehouse. The production examines the lasting influence of chosen family, the weight of inherited histories, and the moments of recognition that reshape a life.
