Slow, Intense, Absorbing

See it if You like to watch a psychological family drama around past trauma.

Don't see it if You are put off by the idea of a no-break almost 2 hours play. It's a slow burner and I felt only in the last act, it really got going. Read more

Intense, Intelligent, Riveting, Great acting, Absorbing

See it if shows with slowly revealed secrets and occasional explosions are your thing. The acting is particularly terrific.

Don't see it if you have an issue with abuse of any kind. While nothing happens on stage, a great deal is discussed.

Intense, Excruciating, Edgy, Great acting, Absorbing

See it if you are excited for a thrilling, plot twist-heavy play, with excellent acting and breathtaking proximity to the action.

Don't see it if the trigger warnings don't suit you or you get nervous with loud yelling/jumping/darkness. At one point, one of the actors removes his shirt Read more

"...Ridley’s writing is a masterclass in ominous understatement. Much is left unspoken and unseen, while abrupt developments and skipped narrative beats leave the audience to fill in the blanks with conjecture, intentionally undermining the characters’ stated versions of events."

"As Ridley toys with the idea of truth and how this can be manipulated and controlled, he tempts his audience by drawing us in and then continually shifting positions once again to reveal further layers of complexity and knocking us off course to compound the discomfort we feel with each revelation."

" 'Leaves of Glass,' by Philip Ridley, is a dextrous and ever fluid exploration of the reliability of personal memory and how our stories move and reshape over years...Like leaves made of glass, the veneer of truth is easily shattered."

"Running at 1 hour 45 minutes without an interval, it’s slightly lengthy for a one-act play but the steadily building intensity across its duration keeps you more than gripped...everything comes together seamlessly to create a thrilling, tense and heartbreaking production."
