Astonishing

See it if you're a fan of the book cause it tells the story perfectly and if you love musicals because the singing, acting and dancing was astonishing

Don't see it if you prefer larger scale, more prop/set heavy musicals or if you prefer comical entertainment rather than deeper storytelling

If you like your musical theatre ballsy and meaty, you may find all this wholesomeness a little hard to take. Jason Howland and Mindi Dickstein's songs ... [sound] mostly derivate. All that said, White really does make a magnificent fist of feisty Jo.

This isn’t a particularly subtle rendering of the book. The brisk pace also means that dramatic tension can be sacrificed. All that said there are still elements to enjoy ... not least because of some excellent performances.

One [of the issues] is the narrative pacing of Allan Knee’s book, which rather strips [Jo's] siblings of any meaningful development. While White does a sterling job ... it’s a shame that we don’t get more of the Little Women.
