A wartime Cinderella story unfolds in London during the Blitz.
Set in London in 1940 during the Blitz, the story follows Cinderella as she meets a young RAF pilot. Their chance encounter leads to a brief romance before they are separated by the violence of the Second World War. The production reimagines the classic fairy tale against the realities of wartime London, with Prokofiev’s score accompanying the action.
Matthew Bourne directs and choreographs the production. His work with New Adventures includes Swan Lake, The Red Shoes, Nutcracker!, Sleeping Beauty and The Car Man. Lez Brotherston provides the set and costume designs, which won an Olivier Award, while Olivier Award-winning Neil Austin designs the lighting. Duncan McLean creates the video and projection designs, with sound design by Paul Groothuis.
