When a woman is forced to flee her homeland with no chance of return, she must confront what it means to begin again. Through the textures of memory—flavors, scents, and the rituals of family life—she rebuilds a sense of self and belonging in a new place. As she prepares the dishes of her childhood live on stage, food becomes both a lifeline and a language for connection.
The play is written by Hannah Khalil (A Museum in Baghdad, Hakawatis), based on the true story of Atoosa Sepehr, and directed by Chris White. Following acclaimed, sold-out runs at Soho Theatre and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe (Traverse Theatre) in 2024, the production returns with its original blend of storytelling and culinary performance.
