A musical adventure with an inventive cyclist whose bike grows wilder with every upgrade.
The story follows Mrs Armitage, an eccentric and gifted inventor whose creations are driven by practicality and boundless imagination. Setting out on a simple bicycle ride with her dog, Breakspear, to visit her cousin Angela, Mrs Armitage becomes increasingly distracted by ideas to improve her bike. Each modification—adding horns, snack trays, umbrellas, a dog bed, and even a sail—transforms the journey itself, raising the question of whether progress helps or hinders her original goal.
The production is a new musical adaptation inspired by Quentin Blake’s Box of Treasures, bringing the character to the stage through puppetry and live music. Rooted in Quentin Blake’s visual storytelling, the show emphasizes creativity, problem-solving, and the role of community, translating the spirit of the animated series into a theatrical form for young audiences.
