Set across two turbulent periods in American history, Ragdoll explores the intersecting fates of a notorious defendant and her once-celebrated attorney. In 1978, Holly—a young heiress—sits behind bars awaiting trial for a series of high-profile armed robberies. With the public riveted by her case, her future hinges on the skill and ambition of her defense lawyer, Robert. Nearly four decades later, Robert, now a household name, seeks his former client’s help in salvaging his own legacy as his past resurfaces in the glare of modern media scrutiny.

The play is the second from playwright Katherine Moar, following her critically acclaimed Farm Hall, which enjoyed a record-breaking run and West End transfer. Director Josh Seymour (known for Lungs at the Old Vic and The Narcissist at Chichester Festival Theatre) brings his sharp focus to this world premiere production, staging a taut examination of power, identity, and public perception. The creative team includes set designer Ceci Calf and lighting designer Jamie Platt.

Presented by Jermyn Street Theatre, Ragdoll is inspired by the true story of Patty Hearst, reimagining its historical context to investigate how truth and loyalty are reshaped over time.
