A triple bill of contemporary ballets exploring rhythm, movement, and musical expression.
This mixed ballet programme brings together three works exploring rhythm through distinct choreographic styles. George Balanchine's Symphony in Three Movements pairs Igor Stravinsky's score with fast-paced neoclassical movement. Jae Man Joo's world premiere Auguries of Innocence draws inspiration from the poetry of William Blake and the music of Pēteris Vasks, while Micaela Taylor's world premiere Bow Out reflects on the legacy of tap legends the Nicholas Brothers and Bill "Bojangles" Robinson through contemporary ballet.
The programme features choreography by George Balanchine (Jewels, Serenade), one of the defining figures of 20th-century ballet, alongside world premieres by Jae Man Joo (Divine, winner of the 2024 Korea Dance Artwork of the Year) and Micaela Taylor (works for Paris Opera Ballet, Acosta Danza, NDT2, and Ballet BC). Music is performed live by the English National Ballet Philharmonic.
