The program presents two choreographic works that examine relationships, interiority, and the rituals of dance. Shoot the Moon, marking its 20th anniversary, investigates emotional distance and connection within intimate partnerships, set to the shifting tonal structures of Philip Glass’s Tirol Concerto. Salle de Danse reimagines the daily discipline of ballet class, transforming its familiar patterns into a stage work that moves between reality and abstraction.

The works are by Sol León and Paul Lightfoot, whose shared movement language blends fluidity with tension. Both were house choreographers at Nederlands Dans Theater from 2002–2020, creating more than 50 works for the company. Salle de Danse receives its stage premiere with a newly composed score by Ilya Demutsky, performed on the bare stage of the Royal Opera House.
