A new two-hander play about a therapist losing touch with reality.

NHS therapist Luc is "fine". She’s not freaked out by her new client and doesn’t think her reality has been disrupted ... she promises!

When she surfaces for air on her swim in the lake, she realizes that her life is radically altered. She’s haunted by mice, shape-shifting people, and secrets she thought she’d buried.

This new two-hander play uses motion sensor technology with motion-responsive video design to create a Through the Looking Glass world.

SURFACING is a show about mental health, how the NHS treats it and grief, but sadly its innovative use of audiovisuals doesn’t do enough to lift the story behind it. It’s a show that I feel could be fleshed out into something more than what it is but for now, the story falls a bit flat

“ ‘Surfacing’ is certainly an intelligent piece of writing, approaching the subject from a different angle. Bailey’s claustrophobic production goes someway to helping the audience understand the journey Luc is undertaking, but it does feel like sometimes we are missing too much to fully appreciate the story for what it is.”
