A 1927 housewife faces betrayal and dissatisfaction in a witty new adaptation.
Set in 1927, the play follows Constance, a woman whose outwardly comfortable life hides her deep unhappiness. Her mother dismisses her complaints, pointing to her fine clothes, meals, and figure as proof of contentment. At home, Constance’s husband divides his affection between her and his mistress—who is also her closest friend.
Directed by RSC Co-Artistic Director Tamara Harvey, this new adaptation stars Kara Tointon and features an original score by jazz composer Jamie Cullum.
