A shy singer’s talent draws unwanted attention from those around her.
Jim Cartwright’s play follows Little Voice, a withdrawn young woman who spends her time alone in her bedroom recreating songs from her late father’s record collection. Through her remarkable ability to imitate legendary singers such as Judy Garland and Billie Holiday, she maintains a private connection to her father and the world of music he loved.
Her secluded life changes when Ray, the ambitious new partner of her mother Mari, discovers her talent and sees an opportunity for success. As pressure mounts for Little Voice to perform publicly, she must confront the possibility of stepping into a spotlight she has never sought.
This production stars Francesca Mills as Little Voice and is directed by Robert Hastie.
