The world premiere of a chilling tale about Essex witch hunts.

It's 1645, and after her husband's death, Alice Hopkins heads back to the small town she grew up in. Alice discovers that her brother has changed as hysteria around witchcraft has reached a fever pitch in Manningtree. Alice makes it her mission to discover the motivation behind the Witchfinder General's tyrannical reign, with the hopes of saving the lives of innocent women.

Jonnie Riordan directs in this adaptation of Beth Underdown's novel.

[This] clumpy adaptation ... is all telling and very little showing. The dialogue tends towards the wooden and mostly involves the recounting of events that have taken place offstage. The cast struggles as a result.
