A bold play on Black women’s maternal health, British politics, and why a Black woman won’t lead.
Zakiyyah Deen’s debut play explores Black women’s maternal health, British politics, and intersectionality over nine months. Blending satire, spoken word, and storytelling, it confronts why a Black woman has never been Prime Minister. While flexible in performance, one rule is clear: the Black woman must be portrayed by a Black woman.
Born out of frustration with political neglect, Zakiyyah thanks Black mums and her own for their inspiration and support.
