Before I’m Dead is a moving and intimate two-person drama about courage, identity, and the connections that give life meaning. Seventeen-year-old Zara is living with a terminal brain tumour, but she refuses to let her illness define her. Determined to tell her own story before she loses the ability, she sets out to record a eulogy in her own voice—honest, funny, angry, and unapologetically herself.

Assigned to help her is Stuart, a compassionate professional who has spent years caring for others while keeping his own grief carefully buried. As their relationship develops, Stuart discovers that Zara doesn’t need fixing or managing; she needs someone willing to truly see and hear her. Through humor, honesty, and vulnerability, the play explores what it means to witness another person’s authentic self and how human connection can become an act of extraordinary bravery in the face of mortality.
