Romantic coming-of-age story where dance transforms lives in 1963’s Catskill summer.
Set in the summer of 1963, Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story on Stage follows Frances “Baby” Houseman, a young woman on vacation with her family at Kellerman’s resort. When she encounters dance instructor Johnny Castle, her sheltered world begins to change. Through secret lessons and a deepening connection, Baby discovers confidence, independence, and love in one transformative summer.
Written by Eleanor Bergstein, Dirty Dancing is adapted directly from her acclaimed 1987 film screenplay. The stage version features live performances of over 35 hit songs including “Hungry Eyes,” “Hey Baby,” “Do You Love Me?” and “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life.” With a live band and a company of more than 40 performers, the production preserves the story’s emotional core while expanding its musical and choreographic scale for the stage.
Produced by Karl Sydow in association with Lionsgate and Magic Hour Productions, and directed by Federico Bellone, the show marks the inaugural production at the new purpose-built Capital Theatre at Westfield London.
