Interactive outdoor family musical with original music in a picnic-style pantomime.
Jack and the Beanstalk follows the young hero's quest to defeat a fearsome Giant in a lively adaptation of the classic fairy tale. Presented as an outdoor picnic theatre production, the story features the Goose on the Loose, Golden Eggs, the Fairy Godmother, the Magic Harp, and Daisy the Cow, combining songs, audience participation, and pantomime-style comedy in a family-friendly adventure.
The production is adapted by Glenn Elston OAM, founder of the Australian Shakespeare Company, with original music by Paul Norton. It is directed by Dennis Manahan, whose staging brings the company's signature outdoor theatre style to the UK premiere at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.
Presented by the Australian Shakespeare Company, the production is performed at the Berberis Dell in the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, from 18 July to 23 August 2026. The relaxed open-air staging allows audiences to enjoy the performance in a picnic setting, with admission to Kew Gardens included in the ticket.
