A comic prequel imagining King Hamlet and Yorick locked in a battle of wit beyond death.
The play reimagines events before Hamlet by placing the Old King in the afterlife, newly arrived and furious over his murder. There, he encounters Yorick, his former court jester, who becomes the unlikely obstacle to the King’s desire for revenge. What unfolds is a verbal and philosophical duel between two fools—one powerful and determined, the other disarmingly self-aware—set against questions of justice, consequence, and restraint.
Positioned as a prequel to Hamlet, the work reframes familiar themes of love, loss, legacy, and letting go through comedy. The script treats tragedy at an oblique angle, using wit, argument, and theatrical playfulness—including recurring motifs such as hats—to examine how stories begin, how they are inherited, and how they might be interrupted before violence takes hold.
