Don Alfonso, convinced that women are inherently unfaithful, challenges his young friends Ferrando and Guglielmo to test their fiancées’ loyalty. To carry out the scheme, the two men pretend to leave for war, only to return in disguise and attempt to seduce each other’s betrothed—Fiordiligi and Dorabella.
