Tony winner Kelli O'Hara returns to Broadway in the Roundabout's production of Cole Porter’s sparkling 1948 musical riff on Shakespeare's 'Taming of the Shrew.' More…
The warring lovers of 'The Taming of the Shrew' are causing trouble both onstage and off. While putting on a musical version of Shakespeare’s play, exes Fred Graham and Lilli Vanessi (O’Hara) can’t decide if they’re enraged, enamored or enormously confused whenever they cross paths out of character. Throw in some mistaken identity, a pair of surprisingly eloquent gangsters and a whole lot of romantic entanglements, and what you get is 'Kiss Me, Kate'—a classic that earned the first-ever Tony Award for Best Musical.
See it if you like big, loud overblown shows. Beautiful costumes, interesting orchestration with split orchestra above the stage. Lovely Funny ballet
Don't see it if You have seen the Dorrance company DO tap. You want subtlety. I know it is a farce superimposed on a farce, but guys let it breathe.
See it if you like excellent dancing. In particular, Will Burton and Rick Faugno in "Tom, Dick or Harry" are standouts and worth seeing the show for.
Don't see it if you like excellent storytelling. Sometimes things are important, sometimes they're not, and that's ok if you're just there for the dancing.
See it if You love Kelli O'Hara. You have a soft spot for the classics. You want to see an (read: exactly one) incredible dance number.
Don't see it if You want to feel something or laugh a lot.
See it if you want to see good choreography. If you have never seen a production of KissMeKate before and have nothing to compare it to, then go.
Don't see it if you want a strong male lead...Will Chase is weak. If you want the real KissMeKate, this is a bastard form.
See it if you like old classic musicals. It was fine but didn't live up to the memory of the last revival. The direction is bland and unimaginative.
Don't see it if You saw the masterful, definitive revival with the great Brian Stokes Mitchell and the sublime Marin Mazzie because this doesn't compare.
See it if ...Will Chase and Kelli O'Hara give excellent performances. Too Darn Hot is a smashing second act opener. Beyond that...meh
Don't see it if This show didn't need to be revived. It's Patriarchy: The Musical at its worst, and the modernization of the show doesn't fix a rotten core.
See it if It’s a good show to take your grandparents too, kelli O’Hara’s voice love is a treat
Don't see it if The script rewrites don’t do much for this boring script. And judging by the amount of passion the actors displayed - they agree with me.
See it if you'd watch Kelli O'Hara read the phone book. That would be funnier than her miscast performance here. Makes you yearn for Marin Mazzie.
Don't see it if you're expecting any fresh spark of innovation or originality. Too Darn Hot is very athletic, but it goes on forever without ever building.
See it if You want to see the only bright ray of sunshine in this dull, unnecessary revival - Stephanie Styles (as Lois Lane/Bianca).
Don't see it if You want a energetic, colorful, quick witted staging of this dud musical. Kelli O’Hara is terribly miscast as Lilli Vanessi. Pass on it!
See it if If you like classic musicals and Cole Porter this one is for you!
Don't see it if If you don’t like musicals
See it if You like to see shows with incredible dancing, you like a more traditional shows
Don't see it if you are interested in super unique or quirky musicals, you aren't impressed by dancing
See it if you like musicals, enjoy excellent choreography, and like being entertained by lively stage craft.
Don't see it if Ifyou don’t like musical theater or don’t like Cole Porter music.
See it if you want a classic Broadway musical experience. This has it all: star power, great singing, amazing dancing... and Cole Porter songs!
Don't see it if you absolutely need to keep a straight face for two hours. It's impossible. And the Act II opening number ... oh my God! Pure theater joy.
See it if You are a fan of classic musicals, funny dialogue, and singing that will make your heart swoon. You love Kelli O'Hara and gorgeous dancing.
Don't see it if You are a fan of more modern shows or shows with little or no dancing.
See it if Do not miss this production as the sets, the costumes, the scenery, the lighting, the dancing and the singing are of the highest quality!
Don't see it if If you do not like revivals or Kelli O'Hara and you are not overjoyed with the score or the story, choose another musical as it is old world
See it if You like amazing music, acting, singing and dancing.
Don't see it if You want a more relevant, more modern story. The show had a plot but there could be a better a story line.
