About the show

Tony winner Kelli O'Hara returns to Broadway in the Roundabout's production of Cole Porter’s sparkling 1948 musical riff on Shakespeare's 'Taming of the Shrew.' More…

The warring lovers of 'The Taming of the Shrew' are causing trouble both onstage and off. While putting on a musical version of Shakespeare’s play, exes Fred Graham and Lilli Vanessi (O’Hara) can’t decide if they’re enraged, enamored or enormously confused whenever they cross paths out of character. Throw in some mistaken identity, a pair of surprisingly eloquent gangsters and a whole lot of romantic entanglements, and what you get is 'Kiss Me, Kate'—a classic that earned the first-ever Tony Award for Best Musical.

2h 30m | Ends Jun 30 | Studio 54 (Midtown W)

Kelli o'hara is great!, Great score, Uneven casting, Uneven, Entertaining

See it if you are a big Kelli O'Hara fan... she is the main reason to see this show.

Don't see it if you are looking for the definitive production of this show... it's flawed... but still enjoyable.

Also I wish some of the roles were better cast... and that the direction wa... Read more Read less

Delightful, Great singing, Classic, Entertaining

See it if You enjoy classic musical comedies. Very polished production. Entire cast has impeccable voices. Very impressive Bway Debut from Styles.

Don't see it if You are looking for something more modern or edgy.

Entertaining, Old fashioned, Dated, Great staging, Great singing

See it if you want to see an old-fashioned musical that shows its age. A great production that cannot distract from the show's creakiness.

Don't see it if you expect a show that seems as fresh today as it did in 1948. If you want to see a faithful (at times inventive) reproduction, this is it.

Also Even though this show was written after the Rodgers and Hammerstein in... Read more Read less

Great score, Hybrid shakespeare & musical forms, Athletic choreography, Kelli o'hara & will chase shine, Classic

See it if want experience of classic forms performed with skill & knowledge, have never seen KMK, like Cole Porter, like to read between the lines

Don't see it if don't want 2 suffer non-landing of 11 o'clock #, or the limits of updated material, dislike high spirited musical theatre, hate revivals

Great singing, Fun, Great dancing, Well casted, Entertaining

See it if the singing and dancing are great. Finally a very well casted show on Broadway, and the actors are visibly enjoying themselves. It’s fun.

Don't see it if The show felt just a tick uneven with several down moments. And the ending is just too abrupt with a weakish final song.

Entertaining, Great singing, Dated, Fluffy, Throwback

See it if you’re a fan of this fun American musical chestnut—full of recognizable songs, impressive dancing & Kelli O’Hara’s perfect soprano.

Don't see it if you’re expecting anything revelatory, spicy or modern.

Disappointing, Indulgent, Great singing, Funny, Entertaining

See it if Doesn't soar to the heights of the excellent 1999 revival. But, it's still enjoyable thanks to the wonderful score and choreography.

Don't see it if You don't like musicals from the Golden Age of Broadway, especially one's not expertly cast and directed.

Also My biggest complaint is that there's NO chemistry between any of the c... Read more Read less

Great singing, Great acting, Delightful, Songs are timeless, rest is dated, Cliched

See it if You’re a fan of old-fashioned musicals. The singing, dancing, acting, set, costumes and choreography are top notch. The story feels stale.

Don't see it if You prefer modern pieces. You like three-dimensional characters and plots that are not predictable.

Great singing, Great writing, Romantic, Fluffy, Funny

See it if you love the Cole Porter score. It has some very funny moments. The cast does a great job and Too Darn Hot tears down the house.

Don't see it if you don't like old musicals. It can feel a little dated. Hated the change in lyrics for Why are Women so simple.

Great acting, Great singing, Great staging

See it if You want to see Kelli o'Hara, Will Chase and Corbin Bleu in a classic play.

Great singing, Slow, Fluffy, Dated

See it if a big staging of an old-fashioned musical: some lovely songs; great dancing; mostly strong cast; happy ending. The sexism has been modified.

Don't see it if the battle-of-the-sexes stuff is a bit too literal. The show is overlong and nearly every scene/number could use editing.

Lackluster, Funny, Overrated, Romantic, Well cast

See it if You want good performances from Kelli, Will, Corbin, and Stephanie Styles. Good scenic design, fun choreography, great lighting. Classic!

Don't see it if Lackluster! Not relevant to today. A bit slow. Needs more energy from all involved.

Over miked, slow, dated, overacted, overblown tidbit, But cole porter makes it doable

See it if you like big, loud overblown shows. Beautiful costumes, interesting orchestration with split orchestra above the stage. Lovely Funny ballet

Don't see it if You have seen the Dorrance company DO tap. You want subtlety. I know it is a farce superimposed on a farce, but guys let it breathe.

Great dancing, Mediocre, Toothless, Old-fashioned, Uneven

See it if you like excellent dancing. In particular, Will Burton and Rick Faugno in "Tom, Dick or Harry" are standouts and worth seeing the show for.

Don't see it if you like excellent storytelling. Sometimes things are important, sometimes they're not, and that's ok if you're just there for the dancing.
