Instead, we get a mediocre revue encased in an extremely guarded memoir...By staging reduced versions of Prince's original work, none of them are as satisfying as the real thing...We don't learn much about the man or what drove him to create...The most disappointing thing is that we never get a sense of these musicals in conversation with the wider world."
