Pulitzer-winning PROOF returns to Broadway—where genius and madness blur beyond measure.
PROOF is centered on Catherine, the brilliant yet unsettled daughter of the renowned, recently deceased mathematics professor, Robert. Catherine's world is thrown into disarray when a notebook containing a major, revelatory mathematical proof is discovered following her father's death. As a conflict arises over the genuine authorship of the work, Catherine is forced to navigate complex questions regarding the weight of her family's legacy and the personal price required to establish her own credibility.
This landmark revival of David Auburn’s Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award–winning play marks the long-awaited Broadway debuts of Emmy Award winner Ayo Edebiri and Golden Globe winner Don Cheadle. Edebiri (whose credits include The Bear) plays the role of Catherine, and Cheadle (known for Hotel Rwanda and the Ocean's film series) plays her father, Robert.
The production is directed by Tony Award winner Thomas Kail (known for directing Hamilton and In the Heights). This is the play's first return to Broadway since its original run, bringing the haunting narrative about brilliance, inheritance, and the nature of belief back to the stage.
