Entertaining, Great singing, Superb dancing, Spectacular costumes, Perfect casting

See it if want to be entertained by Cher's life story while enjoying amazingly matching voices, incredible costumes, dances, and a phenomenal tango.

Don't see it if you expect a deep story, a drama, or new musical songs. It's about the life and music of Cher and that's enough. If you want more, don't see

Delightful, Great singing, Great staging, Hilarious, Terrific

See it if you love big, brassy musicals.Stephanie J. Block is a gift from the theatre gods.Add in Bob Mackie's costumes, fun music, and you have a hit

Don't see it if you want a standard bio pic. This is quirky and fun and exciting, just like Cher herself. It takes 3 women to do Cher justice. Brava to all.

"Set designers Christine Jones and Brett J. Banakis, lighting designer Kevin Adams and the legendary costume designer Bob Mackie provide shamelessly dazzling visuals that define director Jason Moore's slick production as a concert spectacular (or sometimes as a television variety show) with a plot...While 'The Cher Show' is flashy entertainment from start to finish, full of vibrant artists giving splashy turns, the center of it all is Block's solidly grounded acting performance."

"'The Cher Show' benefits from the subject's breezily candid persona, but, as an account of a tumultuous life and times, it has all the incisive detail of a photo-heavy People magazine profile...Rick Elice's book is deficient in both clarity and wit...And then there are the hit songs, all present and accounted for, and most of them devilishly hard to resist...If Jason Moore's direction doesn't impose much order on this hodgepodge of scenes and songs, at least he has kept the tone light and lively."

"The enormous talent onstage and behind the scenes, and the sheer audience-loving energy and confidence that suffuse this production, make for a grand evening of entertainment...All right. It's not perfect. The show at times is overstuffed and overindulgent, while at other times it rushes through segments that deserve a bit more than is offered. But what impresses me most is the amount of care that has gone into every aspect, including the casting of every single role."

New York Stage Review

"Her valentine to herself is just what a fan might have expected it to be: a glittering, glamorous Las Vegas-like jukebox revue elevated by a basic but snappy Rick Elice book...Block, Wicks and Diamond are so effective at their work that it’s got to be said that evidently Cher is imitable, after all...Jason Moore’s direction is spot on from start to finish, as are the actors energized under him."

"A wildly entertaining affair, 'The Cher Show' truly represents the singular superstar it chronicles: Just like the lady herself, this flashy new musical regarding the fabulous life and times of Cherilyn Sarkisian Bono Allman is funny, down-to-earth, madly flamboyant, occasionally conventional, blazing with talent, and delivers dozens of hit songs...Although 'The Cher Show' has its occasional stumbles, the production mostly is fluently staged by director Jason Moore."

"The glittering, gilded-lily work of experts who excel at their craft...A sharp sense of when to pause the non-stop delirium of Gattelli’s ferocious dances long enough for a bit of emotion to remind us that a mostly real story is unfolding. It happens when Cher pays an unexpected and heartfelt tribute to Sonny...It’s good-hearted hagiography and fun. If you’re a Cher fan, it will please you, and if you’re not, it won’t...Either way, you will leave the theater a devotee of Block. She’s a mustang."

"It rarely escapes the draggy forces of gravity that weigh down so many bio-musicals: the murky formlessness of any life, and the challenge of weaving a star’s songbook into its events. And yet for Cher-lovers, the musical provides plenty of glitter-festooned, quasi-campy diversions...The songs are mostly just flung throughout the story like spilled bugle beads. They are performed with marvelous gusto...but they rarely infuse the proceedings with any emotional depth or dramatic texture."

"The set-up of the Cher-bio book ended by an in-the-works TV memoir is serviceable in terms of accommodating Cher's amazingly long and diverse divadom, but it hardly warrants being described as fresh and original. Though Elice and director Jason Moore do capture the spirit of this multi-faceted woman, I couldn't shake the sense that the theater named for a venerable playwright had a genie somehow transformed the place into Caesar's Palace as I was taking my seat."
