About the Show

A wealthy Jewish widow and her Black chauffeur form an unlikely friendship in 1940s-1970s Atlanta.

When Daisy Werthan accidentally crashes her vehicle into a neighbor's garage, her son hires a chauffeur for her, thus initiating an unexpected friendship between Daisy, a wealthy Jewish widow, and Hoke Coleburn, a Black man who must overcome her prejudices to retain his position.

Set in Atlanta spanning the years 1948 to 1973, encompassing the era before, during, and after the Civil Rights Movement, this poignant comedy explores the remarkable connection between two unique individuals and their enduring relationship.

Delightful, Clever, Absorbing

See it if It's amazing what East Lynne Theatre does with 3 actors and very little scenery!!! They have a Pulitzer prize winning play to work with!!!

Don't see it if It's really well done and mesmerizing but no music and very little scenery

Cliched, Ambitious, Banal

See it if You enjoy the story already.

Don't see it if I did t like the simplest characters and minimal changes.
