See it if you are a fan of the novel or Kate Hamill and her unique takes on classics

Don't see it if you are creeped out by a wooden puppet of a child that looks like it came out of the Exorcist

Resonant, Intense, Great acting, Ambitious, Absorbing

See it if You want to see the Kate Hamill version before it comes to NY

Don't see it if You want a traditional telling of the classic. You don't like puppets [with puppet master].

Unsettling, Intelligent, Absorbing

See it if You enjoy feminist themes & interesting takes on classic material. The production stays true to source material but messes with your head

Don't see it if You hate soliloquies or Paul Schrader's First Reformed or you are uncomfortable with the portrayal of any child as anti-social or troubled. Read more

Dated, Creepy, Disappointing, Unfaithful to the book, Strange

See it if you only read the Cliff Notes instead of the book and don't care about strange changes made to the original plot.

Don't see it if Chucky-like puppets cause nightmares for you. Read more

Thought-provoking, A classic, Great acting, Ambitious, Absorbing

See it if You appreciate a well-acted and directed adaptation of a classic. It is intense but I liked how the story still has meaning in todays world

Don't see it if You are looking for something light or don’t like puppetry.
