Ambitious, Refreshing, Clever, Great acting, Masterful

See it if You’d like to see a version of Hamlet with STYLE. Izzard performs every character, which sometimes offers a good laugh w/o ever being silly.

Don't see it if You’re not a Shakespeare fan. The clever construct of the one man show does not make it any less Shakespeare-y, but it is less I man-y. Read more

Clever, Delightful, Great acting, Riveting, Ambitious

See it if you are a fan of Izzard, like Shakespeare, and enjoy one actor playing all of the roles in the epic Hamlet.

Don't see it if you aren't a fan of Shakespeare and/or prefer a more traditional storytelling (multiple actors) of this great play.

The most minimal of minimal staging, Rosencrantz and guildenstern are hand puppets., Great acting, Delightful, Clever

See it if Eddie plays all the roles and manages to make them all feel like different people with NO props. It's impressive work & surprisingly funny.

Don't see it if You want a full production or any costumes; this is abridged & just one person on an empty stage. It works, but more as novelty than canon.

Great lighting, Long, Slow, Quirky, Ambitious

See it if you're an Eddie Izzard fanatic & forgiving re: "Hamlet" interpretations that don't quite work. Also, Tyler Elich's lighting is exceptional.

Don't see it if you expect clear character delineation, a driving narrative, Izzard's comedic chops on full display, or deep explorations of the monologues. Read more

Obviously a tour de force with Izzard playing 23 parts, but the real question is why?

"3/5 Stars. It's an ambitious undertaking, and her passion for the play is evident. But it's not so much a triumph as a tour de forced...As dynamic as Izzard is to watch as she spins around switching characters, she's no Shakespearean shapeshifter, and that dilutes the power of this tragedy."
