See it if You're looking for a totally unique play to see. You enjoy watching shows that have superior technical elements.

Don't see it if You don't like edgy, new-age plays.

Also El Coquí is an absolute treat. I have never seen anything as unique as this on stage. As a techie, I thoroughly enjoyed the use of lighting in the show. SO MANY PRACTICALS. There were also a great deal of projections that I actually didn't hate. They were used to enhance the storyline and it was extremely effective. The visuals were outstanding. I cannot stop thinking about the tremendous costuming as well. Not something I normally dwell on, but as this play was about a super hero, the costumes were a critical aspect and they were immaculate. I can't say enough good things about this show. See it if you're a fan of comics, New York, Spanish Harlem, and are Latino or love Latinos (and who doesn't?).

Don't see it if you may be easily distracted by noises in the echoey theater, which is inside a (sometimes noisy) community center.

Also The playwright and director do a great job of making you think you know what you're watching (comic book sensibility, good vs. evil, easy jokes about family), but inside all the fun you realize it's really about struggles with identity, grief, and fear of losing oneself. See it if you love lively and funny theatre that draws from the comic book genre, to tell a story with heart.

Don't see it if you aren't a fan of the comic book or super hero genre.

See it if you love stories about good vs. evil, creating art vs. selling out, being "hyphen" vs. being American. Its also a very touching family drama

Don't see it if you want a finished product. The production was great, the core story was great, but it was too long and had one too many storylines.

See it if You like comics Latino culture and muscles

Don't see it if You have a ticket to Hamilton... seriously that's the only reason you shouldn't come

See it if If you want to see something with a distinct point of view and is a little bit different than an ordinary kitchen sink family comedy/drama.

Don't see it if You don't like comic books or the whole super hero genre which is used here very cleverly.

See it if you'd like to see something a little different -
