Funny

See it if First they select volunteers to hypnotize, then have them improv scenes with the co-host. As funny as the volunteers' spontaneous improv.

Don't see it if Improv scenarios pre-formulated but content's all improvised, so level/type of humor varies a lot. Colin Mochrie was only at beginning shows Read more

Slow and not very funny, No chemistry between principals, Understudy's first performance and it showed, Awkward and not believable, Shaky at best

See it if Have the spare time for an interactive experience that tries unsuccessfully to meld hypnosis & improv.

Don't see it if Want to see a play or musical. Are impatient and/or have high theatrical expectations. Read more

Unique, Quirky, Repetitive at times, Kind of nuts, Different

See it if you want to see something that's not a traditional theater experience, if you enjoy improv, interested in hypnosis.

Don't see it if Hypnotist Asad Mecci kind of annoying. Guest improviser Stephanie Mochrie was great. It was her first night stepping into the role. Read more

Delightful, Fluffy, Hilarious, Masterful, Clever

See it if you enjoy improv. I do, so I found this delightful. Mochrie is a true master and the concept of the show was entertaining. I laughed a lot

Don't see it if improv annoys you. I don't get it, but I know you are out there. It's not a "play" and it involves voluntary audience participation.

See it if You're looking for a fun and entertaining night out and some light comedy as well. Certainly a different theater experience.

Don't see it if You're looking for a serious subject matter or musical. But I think most people will find this very entertaining.

"'Hyprov' is a safe bet for an amusing and inoffensive night at the theater. Don't be surprised if you find it slipping from your memory, as if it was all a dream."

Now at the Daryl Roth Theatre after a 50 city tour, "HYPROV" is the latest form of theatrical entertainment to reach New York City. Subtitled “Improv Under Hypnosis,” led by Improv and Comedy Legend Colin Mochrie (a regular on "Whose Line Is It Anyway?") and Master Hypnotist Asad Mecci, it is just that: 20 members of the theater audience volunteer to be hypnotized and then are asked to do improvisations while they are under the spell of hypnosis. Obviously, every show will be different as the audience changes nightly.
