Five bakers compete at a county fair, testing skills, hearts, and reputations.
At the Jefferson County Bake-Off, five strangers compete for the top prize. A young woman dreams of opening her own bakery, a twice-divorced nail technician navigates social pressures, a shy school nurse balances family obligations with personal ambition, a mysterious man from Brooklyn raises suspicions, and the reigning champion hides a ruthless drive beneath smiles and pleasantries. Each contestant brings unique motivations and skills to the competition.
The musical features book and lyrics by Barbara Campbell, whose works include over a dozen musicals for children and families, and music by Brad Ross, winner of the Richard Rodgers Award. Tom Wallace directs, with credits including over 75 plays and musicals, and Matthew Lowy serves as music director. Orchestrations are by Tony and Drama Desk nominee Robert Elhai, known for The Lion King on Broadway.
