*** angel blue ***

See it if seldom-produced Puccini in an elegant production with strong singers appeals.

Don't see it if pretty opera ain't your thing.

Romantic, Great staging, Great singing, Entertaining

See it if Lovely new production.Tetelman has a strong debut at the Met.Angel Blue is becoming go-to soprano at the Met.A great introduction to opera.

Don't see it if Lacking some chemistry that is essential, but not a reason not to see; this is the premier evening.

Funny, Minimal plot, but very pretty music, Great singing, Great staging, Starts as a comedy, ends as a (minor) tragedy.

See it if The music is great. Likewise the singing/sets. There are a few laugh out loud moments here. It's among the shortest operas the Met does.

Don't see it if The story is VERY slight, even by opera standards, and it's short (again: by opera standards). If you want something epic, this isn't it.

Must see, Resonant, Romantic, Great singing, Absorbing

See it if Elegant production of little seen Puccini gem w/outstanding performances from all principles Blue's soprano & Tetelman's (debut) tenor shine

Don't see it if Don't expect the pyrotechnics of Boheme; this started out as an operetta & while 'fleshed-out' still feels a little diminutive but sublime

Great singing by soloists and chorus

See it if you want to hear pretty music sung well, and would appreciate the fact that it’s relatively short, for an opera.

Don't see it if you want the thrills grand opera can provide. This is more of an operetta (which is fine in its own way).

Romantic, Great orchestra, Great music, Disappointing, Great singing

See it if you like Puccini, enjoy grand opera with top notch singers, are an Angel Blue fan, or want to see a mostly romantic comic short opera

Don't see it if you prefer tragic dramatic long operas Read more
