A new mounting of Strindberg's classic about a life-altering night of passion between an aristocratic woman and her servant. More…
Violence erupts as they realize that they may be more dependent on their positions in life than they thought. Strindberg's drama is as timely as ever as it depicts people struggling with their place in society. The play shows an attempted destruction of the barriers of gender and class. The failure of this attempt gives us a harrowing look at what keeps people from stepping out of the positions they are born into.
See it if You want an intimate production of Miss Julie. Male lead is a real up and comer, the ladies were lovely. A real pleasure.
Don't see it if You can't do a 4th floor walk up theatre. You you're looking for a musical.
See it if You want to see what happens when the lady of the house becomes involved with her valet. You want to see an intense performance.
Don't see it if You don't want to see a play that gets a bit crazy due to the lady of the house and her intimate relationship with her valet.

See it if theatre history, 19th Century naturalist/expressionist drama, A. Strindberg, and frank, real portrayal of misogyny/class wars intrigue you
Don't see it if you will compare adapted play to 2014 movie, cringe at unrestrained blasphemy, sexuality, misogyny, stereotyping class, race, or nationality
See it if You're up for a literally earthy Miss Julie, well conceived, costumed and lit, and can deal with its attractive young actors mostly emoting.
Don't see it if You don't like your Strindberg condensed or adapted

Don't see it if you can't handle a 4th floor walk up, want something light hearted, don't like small theater
See it if you like explorations of the class system and how it affects love/relationships.
Don't see it if I found it a bit repetitive and long and maybe overacted and predictable
See it if if you are familiar with the playwright. Very good acting. Austin Reed Alleman is an up and coming actor to watch.
Don't see it if It gets a bit heavy and at times confusing. Don't see it if you want something that is lighter.

See it if ...if you like love stories, slow thoughtful performance with brilliant (Broadway quality) acting.
Don't see it if ...if a very slow-paced story is not what interestes you. A sleeping man in front row was indicative of the pace but brilliant acting.
See it if You love the play and are previously familiar with the script. The text received a refreshing facelift and was very impactful.
Don't see it if You don't like small theaters and small black box performance spaces. The house is small and located on a fourth floor walkup.
